Get the most out of your Sensis dishwasher

Follow these handy tips to get the best from your Sensis dishwasher.

1. Scrape, don’t rinse, items before loading your dishwasher

Forget tedious rinsing. Simply scrape leftover food off plates, bowls and pans. Your Sensis dishwasher will take care of the rest thanks to its handy pre-rinse function – saving you precious energy, water and time.

2. Don’t overload your dishwasher

Busy families create lots of washing-up. But if you don’t leave enough space between plates, cutlery and bowls, your dishwasher will struggle to get everything clean as the water and detergent can’t move freely around.

3. Use your dishwasher’s grid, adjustable baskets and racks

Your dishwasher has these for a reason, so load items between the tines and angle everything towards the middle of the machine.

Cups and glasses go face down on the top rack, alongside plastic items such as baby bottles and school lunch boxes – but always check what is (and isn’t) dishwasher safe.

To get cutlery clean first time, place some forks and spoons upright and others facing down in the cutlery basket. Always load knives with the sharp point down.

4. Put large items at the back and sides of your dishwasher

Your dishwasher comes into its own for cleaning cake tins, roasting trays and pans. Place these on the bottom rack where the water pressure and heat are highest, angling everything to the middle (as before).

Loading your dishwasher this way means the washer jets can rotate freely as they clean. It also helps it drain water away and get everything dry.

5. Choose the dishwasher cycle you need

Sometimes you have a full load, sometimes you want a few plates and bowls in a rush.

Using the cycle you need (such as a quick clean super 30 cycle or energy-efficient half-load programme) will save you time, energy and money. Features such as Super Active drying will banish or minimise the need to hand dry.

6. Give your dishwasher some regular TLC

Clean dishes start with a clean dishwasher, so keep your Sensis dishwasher sparkling clean by using the handy SelfClean option.

Plus don’t forget to clean out the dishwasher filter which traps scraps of food. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and switch off/unplug your dishwasher first.
